Monkeypox

MonkeypoxMonkeypox is a rare, highly contagious virus that is most prevalent in Africa. It was first detected in the Democratic Republic of Congo and then spread to Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania. Monkeypox is caused by monkeypox virus found in monkeys. The disease can be transmitted from wild animals to humans who have contact with the monkeys or their droppings.
