On the Verge of WAR with Russia, Ukraine Orders a Massive Military Expansion: He clarified that the order was meant to help professionalize the Ukrainian army,  and denied that there would be a war. In addition to adding 100,000 troops, the plan is to extend their contracts and create 20 new  brigades within the armed forces. The president will also raise the salaries of military service  members to a minimum of three times the minimum wage, which is currently 6,500 hryvnia (USD225). The Ukrainian army currently consists of about 260,000 soldiers,  making it the 22nd largest in the world.
